The Adult Retreat provides a survivor-driven program allowing the opportunity for approximately 20 adult burn survivors to learn about their healing process and their journey as a burn survivor. This program is for adult burn survivors 21+ and is an intensive weekend, developed by burn survivors for burn survivors. It will include workshops, support groups and promotes healing, self-discovery and socialization. The weekend is fully staffed with AARBF personnel, fully screened volunteers and mental health professionals.
The Adult Retreat provides:
- A safe place for burn-injured adults to get away from the stares and unwanted attention associated with being burned;
- A loving and supportive family atmosphere that helps soothe the potentially devastating emotional and physical pain of a burn injury;
- An opportunity to meet others who have been through a similar experience and to be a part of new and challenging activities together; and
- A program that ensures that adult burn survivors have a great time!
“I am so glad that AARBF now offers a retreat for all of the survivors that end up aging out of Champ Camp. It helps to make new friends and keep in touch with old friends. I had a great weekend creating new memories,” —Angel C., Age 26
The Adult Retreat begins on Friday evening and continues until Monday afternoon. All meals are provided. A $25 per person fee may be required for this event. Please note: the location has a hilly terrain. Accommodations can be made by contacting AARBF prior to the weekend with your specific needs.
