Adult Burn Survivors getaway to "The Get A Way"
"The
Get A Way" just wrapped up its 14th successful year. The
Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation organizes the weekend retreat for
adult burn survivors and their loved ones annually over Labor Day
weekend.
"We loved
the arts and crafts! There was a great bubble show that kids and
adults loved. My favorite thing was watching my two kids crawl through
the high ropes course. My son's favorite thing is paintball,"
said Sandra Hishida, who has been attending The Get A Way
with her family for seven years. "The things we didn't get
to do this year, we plan to do next. There is always something to

Central Coast Takes Prevention on the Road
California
Central Coast fire departments take prevention on the road during
Fire Prevention Week. On Oct. 9, all 18 San Luis Obispo County fire
departments will combine mobile prevention presentations and fundraising
into the Central Coast Relay.
This year, 25
engines will visit 16 schools. The departments will travel more
than 200 miles to reach 5,800 children. After presenting prevention
