Champ Camp
Burn Survivor Services
Young Adult Summit

Champ Camp is a weeklong, residential summer camp experience for young burn survivors ages 5-17 who have been treated at California hospitals. On average, 130 kids attend Champ Camp each summer and cost AARBF $97,500. Campers attend at no cost to them or their families. Send one burn injured child to Champ Camp next summer with a donation of $750. Your donation includes transportation, lodging, food and activities for a week.

AARBF staff visit regional partner hospitals to connect burn survivors and their families with support and resources, including: self-help and peer-led support groups and general assistance to burn survivors and their families while being treated in the hospital, recovering at home and attending follow-up doctor’s appointments. Provide groceries and transportation assistance to a family of four with a donation of $150.

The Young Adult Summit is for burn survivors ages 16 to 20, who are invited to spend a weekend discussing a wide variety of topics that young adults are facing every day.  Each participant leaves with life skills and tools, as well as a network of peers and adults who are available throughout the year. A donation of $300 sends one young adult to the weekend retreat.

Firefighters in Safety Education (FISE) and Other Prevention Education
The Getaway
Regional Recreation Events and Trips

Firefighters visit public and private schools to teach them fire prevention techniques as well as what to do in case of a fire.  Statistically, FISE, which includes “Stop, Drop, & Roll” education, has lowered the occurrences of burn injuries.  A small donation of $25 provides enough burn prevention activity books for one classroom during the school year.

The Getaway is a relaxing weekend of adult survivors and their family members. Camp includes family activities, support groups, and informational sessions. Sponsor a family of four to attend The Getaway for $400.

Throughout the year, recreational trips and activities are offered to burn survivors of different ages in each region of California. From holiday parties, to the Monterey Bay Aquarium sleepover and Coastal Beach Adventure, each activity creates a social opportunity for burn survivors to connect and interact with their peers. Support one burn survivor for $75 to attend on of the five regional recreational programs.
